Los Angeles CA – City officials joined representatives of Los Angeles World Airports and American Airlines in unveiling the “Latinos in Hollywood” Photo Exhibit at LAX.  An exclusive VIP reception and first look at this unprecedented exhibit, celebrating the many contributions of Latinos to the entertainment industry, took place at the American Airlines VIP Lounge located in Terminal 4.

In attendance at the reception and unveiling were: L.A. City Council member Gilbert Cedillo (District 1), who is also serving as Chair of this year’s Latino Heritage Month festivities; Los Angeles Board of Airport Commissioners member Gabriel L. Eshaghian; American Airlines General Manager Juan Carlos Liscano; and Monica Rodriguez, City of Los Angeles Public Works Commission Vice President.

“As both a citizen and official of the city of Los Angeles, the hub of the entertainment industry, I am honored to be a part of today’s unveiling of this very important component of Latino Heritage Month,” Cedillo said.

‘Latinos in Hollywood’ salutes the many important and often under-appreciated contributions of Latinos to all facets of the entertainment industry, both in front of and behind the camera. It is my hope that this beautiful exhibition will help raise awareness that Hollywood, in its continued quest for diversity, can certainly do better with regard to opportunities for Latinos.”

The exhibit consists of 40 images of some of Hollywood’s brightest Latino stars, both past and present. Included are images of icons of years past such as Rita Hayworth, Desi Arnaz, and Anthony Quinn, alongside present day stars Rita Moreno, Hector Elizondo, Eva Longoria, and Andy Garcia, Zoe Saldana, among others.  All are displayed for the first time in one of the world’s busiest airports where they will be seen by an estimated 14,000-plus travelers per day.
