SUN VALLEY (CNS) – A 57-year-old registered sex offender suspected of assaulting a 14-year-old girl on a Metro bus in Sun Valley may have victimized others, authorities said.

The girl was traveling with family members aboard Metro Line 152 in the area of Laurel Canyon and Roscoe boulevards about 1:55 p.m. Tuesday when a man allegedly stood behind her and sexually assaulted her, according to the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Information Bureau.

The girl immediately told her mother what happened and the family followed the suspect onto another bus, the sheriff’s department reported.

Los Angeles Police Department officers detained the suspect pending the arrival of Transit Policing Division deputies, according to an SIB statement.

Suspect John Griego was arrested on suspicion of committing lewd and

lascivious acts on a minor and booked at the Los Angeles County Jail, where he was being held without bail, according to the sheriff’s department.
