An woman was struck and killed by the car of an unlicensed driver in the City of San Fernando on Tuesday, July 7.
San Fernando Police Department Chief Tony Vairo said the victim — who identity was withheld pending notification of next of kin — was described being in her late 40s.
The driver was eastbound on Glenoaks Boulevard, near Harps Street, when the accident occurred at approximately 9:20 p.m., Vairo said. He said the driver stopped and called 911 for help. Both SFPD officers and Los Angeles Fire Department rescuers responded, but the victim was declared dead at the scene.
No alcohol or drugs were involved the accident, nor was the driver speeding, the chief said. He said although the driver was cited for being unlicensed, but at this point there was no fault for the accident.
The investigation into the accident is continuing, Vairo said.
