CANOGA PARK (CNS) — An employee of a Jack in the Box here was shot in the hip during a robbery attempt, authorities said.

The attempted armed robbery happened at about 11 p.m. on Sunday, July 12, at the Jack in the Box at Roscoe Boulevard and DeSoto Avenue, Los Angeles police Sgt. Mike Stewart said.

“It was a robbery that went bad,” Stewart said.

Two suspects in a car ordered food from the drive-through window at the fast food restaurant, he said. When they got to the window they demanded money.

“Apparently he (the employee) couldn’t get the register open quickly enough so they shot him one time, hitting him in the hip,” Stewart said. The suspects fled the scene, driving eastbound on Roscoe Boulevard.

The 23-year-old worker had stable vital signs at a hospital, Stewart said.
