CANOGA PARK (CNS) – The discovery of what appeared to be grenades in the West Hills home of a deceased veteran forced the evacuation of the residence and some nearby homes Monday (Aug.10).

Officers responded to the home in the 23000 block of Stagg Stree., according to the Los Angeles Police Department. The devices were apparently found by relatives of the recently deceased veteran.

Some nearby homes were evacuated and a bomb squad was called to the scene.

The squad eventually took the devices to the nearby Lazy J Ranch Park in Canoga Park, where they were detonated.

No injuries were reported.
