PANORAMA CITY (CNS) — Authorities have released the name of a 24-year-old man who was fatally shot in a homeless encampment in Panorama City.
Juan Carlos Hernandez died at the scene of the shooting, which was reported about 5 a.m. on Aug. 21 in the 14600 block of Cabrito Road near Van Nuys Boulevard, according to coroner Assistant Chief Ed Winter.
Hernandez was in a “densely populated homeless community” and got into a “brief argument” with an unidentified male gunman who shot him, according to Los Angeles police.
It’s unclear what the argument was about.
The killer remains at large. Police did not release a suspect description.
