It’s customary to “throw out the records” whenever Sylmar and San Fernando gather for their annual neighborhood clash, as they will on Friday, Sept. 25
But it’s hard to ignore the fact the Tigers, who have moved back into Division I are winless (0-3) so far this season and are badly in need of a victory. And now Valley Mission League play starts, raising the stakes even higher.
Like San Fernando, defending league champion Sylmar (2-2) has returned to Division I. The two teams are the only Division I teams in Valley Mission, meaning San Fernando and Sylmar probably have to go through league undefeated to get one of the first eight playoff berths and a guaranteed first round home game.
And don’t forget those all important bragging rights.
The kickoff is scheduled for 7 p.m. at Sylmar High.
