SYLMAR (CNS) — A man was shot Tuesday, Dec. 9, in a Sylmar neighborhood, then went to a house for help, authorities said.

The shooting in the 13900 block of Herron Street was reported around 3:20 a.m., when a resident called police to report that someone — the victim — was knocking on the door asking to be allowed inside, said Los Angeles police Officer Liliana Preciado.

First responders found on the porch a man conscious and breathing but suffering from a gunshot wound, Preciado said.

The victim was taken to a hospital, she said. An investigation was underway to develop information about the suspect and motive.
