PACOIMA (CNS) – A man was arrested for suspicion of DUI this morning after he ran a red light and side-swiped a police car in Pacoima, authorities said.
The crash happened at San Fernando Road and Branford Street at about 2:45 a.m., said Sgt. Klaus Edgell of the Los Angeles Police Department’s Foothill Station.
Two officers were inside the patrol car returning to the station when the suspect ran a red light and side-swiped their car, Edgell said. “He tried to get away until a wheel fell off his car.”
The officers and the suspect were taken to a hospital with complaints of pain, he said. It did not appear any injuries were serious.
