NORTH HILLS (CNS) – The short pursuit of an alleged reckless driver ended with a four-car crash in North Hills, and an armed standoff next to Cal State Northridge today.

At 8:42 a.m. officers spotted what appeared to be a reckless driver.

Shortly after that, the black sedan apparently caused a crash with three othercars at Zelzah at Lassen streets.

The sedan, its front end smashed, raced south on Zelzah Avenue, apparently leaking fluid. It conked out on Zelzah near Prairie Street, according to video of the aftermath.

“He stopped in the middle of the street and was taken into custody,” said Officer Lilliana Preciado of the LAPD’s Media Relations Section. “It appears that he may have had an emergency, so we contacted an ambulance for him.”
