The 23rd Annual Cesar Chavez March for Justice was held on Sunday, March 20. The march, held in the Northeast San Fernando Valley has been held each year since the labor leaders death in 1993, encourages student participation.  Several area schools participate.  This event is as much a cultural event with music and dance as it is an opportunity to voice political concerns.  Marchers holding the UFW flag carried signs in support of immigration reform, providing overtime for farmworkers, affordable education and boosting the minimum wage. This year’s event was well attended by local legislators including those running for re-election including Congressman Tony Cardenas and Assemblywoman Patty Lopez.  California Secretary of State Alex Padilla also attended.
