Square dancers at the 2015 Spring Jamboree

The Easter Bunny will be jumping to country music in the City of San Fernando this Saturday, March 26  at 11:00 A.M.  A “JAM” Square Dancing Session will be held at Las Palmas Park 505 S. Huntington Street compliments of the John Anson Ford Theater Foundation and the city’s Spring Jamboree.  This year,in addition to arts and crafts and face painting, the city will have a different kind of Easter celebration, and will hand out Easter treats and country themed prizes instead of holding an egg hunt.

“Previously, we instructed people to turn in the plastic eggs and exchange them for candy, but people misunderstood and left without turning them in, not realizing the eggs were empty,” said Virginia Diediker who organizes the event each year. “This year, we want people to bring their dancing shoes or an instrument,” said Diediker.

Instructors Susan Michaels and K. Boogie will teach you to “doe-si-do,” to traditional American square dance music.  Or if dancing’s not your thing, show up with your guitar, banjo or fiddle and play along with the band. It’s all about having fun. You are encouraged to wear  comfortable clothes and shoes. The JAM Session and the Spring Jamboree are free and all ages and skill levels are encouraged to participate.
