BURBANK (CNS) — A 30-year-old North Hollywood man whose body was found wrapped in plastic in a Burbank field last week was apparently killed in the city of Los Angeles, authorities said Tuesday, May 3.
The body of Nshan Balyan, who had been shot multiple times, was found behind Stock Lumber at 640 N. Victory Blvd. at 12:35 p.m. on April 28, said Burbank police Sgt. Claudio Losacco.
The corpse was wrapped in plastic except the victim’s feet were exposed, Losacco said.
“Burbank police investigators have determined the homicide did not occur in Burbank, but rather in the city of Los Angeles,” Losacco said.
He said detectives from the Los Angeles Police Department’s Operations-Valley Bureau Homicide Division have assumed control of the investigation.
“Burbank police investigators will continue to work with our colleagues at LAPD to ensure continuity and ultimately work towards a successful prosecution of Balyan’s killer or killers,” Losacco said.
On April 30, Burbank detectives served a search warrant at a Van Nuys residence in connection with the investigation.
“Evidence was recovered and … people were interviewed at the Van Nuys
home,” Losacco said.
Hector Balcacer, 33, was arrested at the home for an alleged crime — receiving stolen property — unrelated to the homicide, Losacco said. He was booked into the Burbank City Jail, and was being held on $200,000 bail.
