An exhibit of art and memorabilia that includes original photos and show posters is running concurrently with the musical “Eastside Heartbeats” in the lobby of the CASA 0101 Theater.
The exhibit “Roots of the Eastside Sound: 1955-1965” is curated by David Reyes and Jimmy Centeno, and focuses on the history of Chicano Rock ‘n’ Roll primarily on the Eastside of L.A. The music both preceded and continued through the Chicano movement.
During opening night, several musicians attended including Erci Arvizu, vocalist from The Sisters, Rudy and Steve Salas from Tierra, Gene Sesma from The Blendells, Larry Rendon from Thee Midniters, Lawrence Perez from The Premiers and many others.
The exhibit hours are from 10 a..m. to 7 p.m., Monday through Friday, and prior to performance times during the weekend. A CD of the 20 songs scored for “Eastside Heartbeats” is available.
