Calling all baby boomers, and anyone 50-plus years old: the City of San Fernando is holding a Senior Expo on Friday, May 20, from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Las Palmas Park.
May is Older Americans Month, and with approximately 76 million baby boomers in the U.S., this substantial population is living longer than the previous generation.
Wellness will be a central theme at this event that will include a continental breakfast and lunch, and physical exercise as well as music and activities that can encourage emotional health.
“As we age, we all strive to maintain a healthy quality of life,” said Virginia Diediker, San Feernando’s Recreation and Community Services Cultural Arts supervisor. “The city’s ‘100 Citizens’ exercise program will hold a fitness session, and we will also honor the senior volunteers who contribute much to our city.”
Health Screenings will be provided by local health care providers, and entertainment will be provided by senior musicians “Suenos de Oro,” and the Ballet Folklorico group, “Hilos de Plata.”
Las Palmas Park is located at 505 S. Huntington Street, in San Fernando. For more information, call Las Palmas Park at (818) 898-7340.
