LOS ANGELES (CNS) — The county’s Parks After Dark program will expand to 21 parks this summer, officials announced.

The nighttime parks program kicks off today, June 16, and is aimed at providing safe havens after dark, connecting communities and encouraging healthy living.

The schedule varies by park, starting this week through Aug. 13 in some locations and beginning July 7 and running through Aug. 27 in others. A full list of parks can be found at http://parks.lacounty.gov.

The program takes place Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays from 6 to 10 p.m. and includes healthy cooking classes, sports, exercise classes, movies in the park, concerts, computer courses and social service resource fairs.
