CANOGA PARK (CNS) — A couple from West Hills died when their 2010 Fleetwood motorhome towing a Jeep hit a fence, clipped a fire hydrant and smashed into a wall bordering the Browns Canyon Wash flood control channel in Canoga Park.
The incident was reported at 3:21 p.m. on Monday, July 4, at 8433 DeSoto Avenue, according to Brian Humphrey of the Los Angeles Fire Department.
The occupants were a man and a woman believed to be in their 80s, Valley Traffic Division Officer S. Bales told City News Service.
Both suffered traumatic injuries in the crash, Bales said, and their causes of death remained under investigation. The victims’ names won’t be released until relatives are notified.
No other vehicles were involved in the crash, police said.
Firefighters successfully kept the “precariously perched” motor home from teetering over the wall overlooking the wash, Humphrey said.
They also handled a spill of diesel fuel from the RV, he added.
