GRANADA HILLS (CNS) — Police continued to seek whoever shot to death a well-known rapper at a pool party in Granada Hills over the weekend.

Justin Lishey, 30, who was professionally known as Kid Cali or Cali OSo, was shot about 9 p.m. on Saturday, Aug. 20, in the 12400 block of Longacre Avenue. The party had been heavily promoted on social media and through fliers.

Two men in their 20s were wounded and are expected to survive, according to the Los Angeles Police Department, which has not released a description of the suspect.

The assailant fled into the surrounding area, an upscale section of hillside homes overlooking the San Fernando Valley.

Police were reviewing video from numerous security cameras on the mansion grounds.

“There is definitely some sort of gang connection to this case, but I don’t know if Kid Cali was involved, whether it was the party or the participants,” LAPD Detective Richard Moakley told the Los Angeles Daily News.

“We have a grainy video and may be able to … get a picture of the shooter,” Moakley said, noting that if they are able to pull a photo from the video, it will be released to the public.

Hundreds of people attended the party, but many fled after the shooting began, complicating the investigation.

“We’re trying to get the word out and not a lot of people are talking,” Moakley said.

Singer Chris Brown reacted to Lishey’s death by posting “RIP Kid Cali” on Twitter, while Snoop Dogg tweeted, “Rest well young g.”
