“Zoolander 2”, “Batman v. Superman” are Razzie Nominees

LOS ANGELES (CNS) — Zoolander 2” and Batman v. Superman: Dawn of Justice” led the list of “honorees” nominated for the 37th annual Razzie Awards, which recognize the worst films of the past year.

Announced annually the day before Oscar nominations are released, the list of Razzie nods for worst picture of the year also features “Dirty Grandpa,” “Gods of Egypt,” “Hillary’s America: The Secret History of the Democratic Party” and “Independence Day: Resurgence.”

Razzie Award organizers noted that the category was expanded to six nominees this year because “the crop of cinematic crap in 2016 was so extensive.”

Ben Affleck was nominated for worst actor for his turn as Batman in “Batman v. Superman,” along with his co-star Henry Cavill, who portrayed Superman in the movie. Also nominated were Gerard Butler for his work in the films “Gods of Egypt” and “London Has Fallen”; Robert De Niro for “Dirty Grandpa”; Dinesh D’Souza for “Hillary’s America”; and Ben Stiller for “Zoolander.”

Nominated for worst actress were Megan Fox for “Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Out of the Shadows”; Tyler Perry for “Boo! A Madea Halloween”;

Julia Roberts for “Mother’s Day”; Becky Turner for “Hillary’s America”; Naomi Watts for “The Divergent Series: Allegiant”; and Shailene Woodley for “Allegiant.”

The Razzie Awards will be presented Feb. 25, the day before the Academy Awards.
