NORTH HOLLYWOOD (CNS) – An Amtrak train struck and fatally injured a pedestrian Wednesday, Feb. 15, in North Hollywood.

The man, about 20, died at the scene, near Laurel Canyon Boulevard and Sherman Way, about 8:25 a.m., according to the coroner’s office and the Los Angeles Fire Department.

Authorities withheld his name, pending notification of his relatives.

According to Metrolink, the man was struck by Amtrak train 761, prompting closure of the tracks between the Burbank-Bob Hope Airport Station and the Van Nuys Station.

Metrolink’s Ventura County Line train 110 to Los Angeles — which was held at the Van Nuys Station — was later canceled, and buses were sent to accommodate passengers. Metrolink’s VC Line train 107 to Chatsworth was also canceled.
