Mass Casualty Drill

Dignity Health Northridge Hospital participated in a major joint mass casualty drill along with the Amateur Radio Emergency Services Group, PRN Ambulance Services, Los Angeles Fire Department, and the Van Nuys National Guard Unit on July 8. The participants worked from a scenario of a plane crash at Balboa Blvd. and the 101 Freeway. Approximately 50 “moulaged” (mock injuries applied) “victims” were delivered ambulance to the triage areas, then transported to a mock Emergency Department for immediate care. The drill is to create and develop an environment of efficiency and smoother communication between various bureaus in the event of a major catastrophe.
