SYLMAR (CNS) — A 34-year-old Sylmar man was shot and killed near a Sepulveda Recreation center. 

Officers received a call reporting shots fired around 12:35 p.m. on Tuesday, Dec. 5, in the area of Kester Avenue and Parthenia Street, according to the Los Angeles Police Department.Arriving officers found a man down in a grassy area, suffering from multiple gunshot wounds to the upper body, police said.The man, identified as Roberto De La Cruz of Sylmar, was pronounced dead at the scene, police said.

There were no witnesses that observed the actual shooting but witnesses did say they heard six shots and at least one witness observed three males wearing dark clothing running away from the park in a westerly direction, according to police
