PACOIMA (CNS) — A drive-by shooting early Tuesday morning, Jan. 16, took the life of a 36-year-old man in Pacoima.

A 1:50 a.m. radio call of a shooting with injury brought officers to the 12300 block of Pierce Street, just south of Foothill Boulevard, where they found the victim down next to a vehicle in a home’s driveway, according to the Los Angeles Police Department.

The man, suffering from gunshot wounds to his body, was taken to a hospital where he was pronounced dead. He was a resident of Sylmar, police said; his name was withheld pending family notifications.

“Preliminary investigation revealed the victim was next to his vehicle and in the process of leaving the location,” according to a police statement. “A vehicle drove by, and an unknown suspect shot the victim multiple times before fleeing the location.”

No suspect or vehicle description was available, police said.

Anyone with information about the shooting was urged to call (818) 374-1925 to speak with Valley Bureau Homicide Detective Steve Castro. After-hours and weekend calls should be directed to (877) LAPD-24-7. Anonymous tips can be submitted through Crime Stoppers by calling (800) 222-TIPS.
