PASADENA (CNS) — An 81-year-old man who molested a 10-year-old family member in a parked car outside a Burbank supermarket — and was reported to police by a passing 12-year-old boy — was sentenced to three years time served and ordered to register as a lifetime sex offender.

Guillermo Rincon Lugo was also ordered to stay away from the victim for 10 years, according to a court clerk, who said the defendant was expected to be released from county jail.

The boy who alerted police, Leo Anicua of Pacoima, was honored in April with a Courageous Citizen Award by Los Angeles County District Attorney Jackie Lacey.

Lugo pleaded no contest last September to a felony count of committing a lewd act on a child.

On Oct. 4, 2015, a 12-year-old Pacoima boy spotted Lugo molesting the girl in the back seat of a car, wrote down the license plate number and told his mother. The pair drove to the police station to report the crime, which led to Lugo’s arrest the same day.
