Authorities Identify Man Killed in Officer-Involved Shooting in Pacoima

PACOIMA (CNS) – Authorities today identified a man killed in an officer-involved shooting in Pacoima.

The shooting occurred about 1 a.m. Wednesday, after officers went to a home in the 10900 block of Telfair Avenue on a report of a stabbing, the Los Angeles Police Department said.

Bryan Rodriguez, 29, who lived in the residence, died at a hospital, the coroner’s office reported.

Arriving officers found Rodriguez on the carport of the home and when he came down, he began throwing objects at them, prompting police to use less-than-lethal round to try to control him, said LAPD Officer Norma Eisenman.

Rodriguez then armed himself with an ax and tried to get into a nearby residence, Eisenman said.

The officers became concerned about the safety of the public and their own safety, and an officer-involved shooting occurred, Eisenman said.

A male stabbing victim and two officers who were hurt in the incident were taken to the hospital. The stabbing victim was hospitalized in serious but stable condition. The officers were treated for unspecified injuries.
