Young Girl Killed in Horse riding Accident Identified

There are still many unanswered questions following news the young girl killed in a horse-riding accident in Lake View Terrace.

Yolonda Ceja, 12, was identified as the victim by the county coroner’s office. She and her 4-year-old sister were riding a horse at or near the Lake View Terrace Recreation Center on Tuesday at 8 p.m. when something spooked the animal. He reared up and fell backwards on them, according to Brian Humphrey of the Los Angeles Fire Department.

Ceja was taken to a hospital, where she was pronounced dead. 

The younger child remains hospitalized in critical condition, according to broadcast reports.

One student, who spoke to the San Fernando Valley Sun/El Sol, said he attended the PUC Inspire Charter Academy in Pacoima.

“She was a very loving and funny person. Anything she would say could make you laugh,” the student said. She had some friends. We were friends. We would talk at school.”

When asked how people should remember Ceja, the student said, “That she was that one person who always had smile on her face no matter what.”
