Two early undefeated teams, Reseda High and Marshall High of Los Angeles will do battle today, Aug. 30.
This is the kind of game that makes one wish it was underneath the Friday Night Lights. But the Los Angeles City Section schools have a holiday on Friday, Aug. 31, and most its teams are playing their scheduled games on Thursday.
The Barristers (2-0), who were 11-3 last season and defeated Verdugo Hills in the City Division III title game, are handling their promotion into Division II smoothly so far. Defensively, Marshall has only given up three points in the victories against Belmont and Hollywood.
The Regents (2-0), who have moved up to Division I, had a relatively easy time with Monroe in their season opener but had to pull off a thrilling 29-28 comeback victory against El Camino Real Charter High. The margin of victory came on a two-point conversion after Reseda’s final touchdown with less than two minutes to play.
The kickoff is scheduled for 3 p.m. at Marshall High School.
