Birmingham Community Charter High (2-0) is showing signs it wants to be a serious contender in the City Section Open Division. The Warriors knocked off Harvard-Westlake in their season opener, and last week blasted Pasadena La Salle.
Another view of how good the Patriots are or could be may come into focus on Friday, Sept. 7, from their road game against St. Paul High.
The Swordsmen (3-0) routed Venice and Lompoc in their first two games, then had a close encounter against Los Altos last week, needing two overtimes to win.
The kickoff is scheduled for 7:30 p.m. at St. Paul High School in Santa Fe Springs.
