Lennon Self-Portrait Image to Help Fight Hunger

Former Beatle and mega-music star John Lennon, who would have turned 78 this week (Oct. 9), will have his self-portrait image used in California and Florida in campaigns to help fight hunger.

The California Association of Food Banks and Feeding Florida has received permission and authorization from Lennon’s widow Yoko Ono and his estate to apply his image on license plates, with the proceeds benefitting the two organizations.

“‘Imagine’ is a great word to spread around and I was happy to do this because it is helping a very important charity,” Ono said in a statement.

The “Imagine No Hunger” license plate is available for pre-order at https://californiaimagine.com/, and 7,500 have to be pre-purchased before the California DMV will proceed with creating the plate for availability to all California drivers.

In Florida, the ‘Imagine’ license plate has already raised close to $4 million for programs to help end hunger.
