The Alicia-Broadous Duncan Multi-Purpose Senior Center in Pacoima and the Los Palmas Senior Center in San Fernando are two locations that provide a wide variety of services for seniors in the northeast Valley.

The senior center in Los Palmas Park — located at 505 S. Huntington Street — is open Monday through Saturday (hours vary). It includes free and low-cost exercise programs (Zumba dance, stretching, lifting and energy training) and a free Elderly Nutrition program, as well as a recreation lounge, karaoke, arts and crafts, and line dancing among its services.

In addition the Los Palmas Senior Club is known for its monthly dances that feature prizes and raffles as well as music. The Halloween Dance is scheduled for Oct. 20, from 7 p.m. to 12 a.m. You do not have to be a club member to attend.

The center is now also offering “Pickleball,” a paddleball sport that combines elements of badminton, tennis and table tennis. Check with the center about its next introductory class.

The Broadous Center, — located at 11300 Glenoaks Boulevard — is open Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m., and provides low-priced meals, fitness programs, bingo, employment training, legal aid, trips, and health education and screening among its senior services. Van transportation is also available.

Among the remaining October events are “Paper Crafts w/Melinda,” line dancing and knitting.
