A former Cal State Northridge soccer player charged with attacking three women was held to answer charges in the San Fernando Courthouse on Wednesday, Nov. 7.

A Nov. 21 trial date was set for Davis Moreno-Jaime, of Loma Linda, who was arrested in August and charged with one felony count each of forcible rape and false imprisonment by violence and one misdemeanor count each of sexual battery and battery, according to the Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Office.

The criminal complaint alleges that Moreno-Jaime forcibly raped a woman between Jan. 1 and Jan. 31, and sexually battered and falsely imprisoned another woman and battered a third woman on or between July 4 and July 5.

He could face up to 12 years in state prison if convicted as charged, according to the District Attorney’s Office.

The 2017 Redlands High School graduate played soccer at Cal State Northridge, and the alleged attacks reportedly occurred on or near the campus. 

Meanwhile, in a separate preliminary hearing, Jose Armando Macias, Jr.,  accused of killing a woman and injuring her toddler in an alleged DUI crash in North Hills, was delayed because prosecutors are examine and evaluating new evidence. No new date was set on Wednesday.

The accident occurred in Nov. 26, 2017 when a pickup truck hit a woman and her infant daughter, along with several parked vehicles. and the motorist was arrested on suspicion of second-degree murder.

The victim — Ruth Chinchilla, 34, of North Hills, mother of three — died at the scene, according to the county coroner’s office.

Macias was driving a 1997 Chevrolet pickup truck north on Woodley Avenue according to investigators, who said he lost control the truck, then struck and damaged six parked vehicles.“ Ruth Chinchilla … was taking her child out of a car seat in the back of her parked vehicle when she was struck by Macias’ truck,” according to a LAPD statement.Macias remained at the accident scene, where he was arrested.The suspect has a previous DUI conviction, having pleaded no-contest to a DUI charge in August from his arrest by LAPD Van Nuys officers in June.His driver’s license has been suspended since January 2016 for a failure to appear in court, according to Department of Motor Vehicle records. DMV records show. Macias had also received multiple tickets and been deemed at fault in one car crash along with the June 2017 arrest and his current DUI charge, according to court records.
