Residents gathered on Brand and San Fernando Road in the City of San Fernando for the city’s annual Christmas tree lighting event. The crowd cheered as the city’s tree was at last, turned on for the holiday season twinkling with colorful lights. Local talent was showcased on stage from area schools that included students in the city’s Mariachi Apprentice Program. Called “Los Tesoros”, and “Los Tesoritos”, the young mariachi musicians sang holiday standards as well as traditional mariachi music and the audience sang along to their favorite songs.
Proud parents took photos and video of their kids on stage. Dancers as young as 5- years-old, enrolled in the Folklorico program at Las Palmas Park made the audience smile while Santa and his helper handed out treats and plenty of “Ho-ho-hos.” The evening ended with the students singing the songs “Silent Night” and “Feliz Navidad”.
