SAN FERNANDO (CNS) — A motorist accused in a hit-and-run crash that killed a man sleeping in a parked car in Pacoima is facing charges that could send him to prison for up to five years if he’s convicted.

Reinaldo Vasquez Jr., 35, of Pacoima, is charged with one felony count of hit-and-run driving resulting in death or serious injury to another person and one misdemeanor count each of hit-and-run driving resulting in property damage and driving when his privilege was suspended or revoked, according to the Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Office.

Vasquez allegedly fled on foot after his pickup truck struck several

parked vehicles on Branford Street, just east of Telfair Avenue, about 3:20 a.m. on Sunday, Dec. 9.

The collision killed a man who was sleeping inside a Ford Mustang parked at the south curb of Branford Street, according to Los Angeles police.

The victim was identified by the coroner’s office as Daniel Hernandez Gayosso, 35.

Vasquez, who was arrested about 6:30 p.m. Sunday, is due back in a San Fernando courtroom on Dec. 19 to get a preliminary hearing date.
