Center Stage Opera, the San Fernando Valley’s professional opera company, presents a new take on a Mozart favorite. “The Marriage of Figaro” takes audiences on a farcical romp through the trappings of romance, betrayal, and mistaken identity. Traditionally set near Seville, Spain in the 18th Century, Stage Director Dylan F. Thomas brings the action to Mexico in the late 1800s. This production is full of surprises, including weaving traditional Mariachi music into Mozart’s score for a wedding scene that is not to be missed! Mozart meets Mariachi in this colorful production, which features some of California’s finest vocal and orchestral artists, as well a the esteemed group, Mariachi Garibaldi de Jaime Cuellar, which has appeared in the most prestigious venues across the U.S. and Mexico. CSO Music Director Mercedes Juan Musotto conducts The Center Stage Opera Orchestra in this musically rich and comedically side-splitting production. The opera will be sung in Italian, with supertitles projected in both English and Spanish. Two performances only! January 26th at 7:30pm, and January 27th at 3pm, both at the Plaza del Sol Theater on the campus of Cal State Northridge. Visit centerstageopera.org for more information.
