Victoria Leung, a fourth grade teacher at Haskell STEAM Magnet School in Granada Hills, is raising funds to purchase soprano recorders to not only teach students to play a musical instrument but also help develop listening and cognitive skills. “It teaches students the fine motor skills of fingers and tongue coordination. It comes along with the benefits of boosting their self-confidence; it develops creativity and develops patience and perseverance. It also strengthens their memory and reading skills and makes them feel a sense of belonging to a group,” Leung said.
Leung is seeking to raise $500 through the DonorsChoose website at the link:
Donations can be made through May 9.
