The City of San Fernando has planned nights of  family friendly entertainment throughout the summer for the community to enjoy. Set to kick off in July, each event will have a theme.  While city events always have plenty of activities for young children, this year they will include entertainment that teens can also enjoy, and at each event there will also be an opportunity to get out of your chair and participate in an  exercise activity.  Both movie nights and concert nights will begin at 5 p.m., and  all of the events are free.

The Summer night theme is “Christmas in July,” on Friday,  July 26, and residents are invited to gather with their neighbors to watch the film, “Home Alone,” on a large outdoor screen.  The city will also offer an opportunity to get up and move your body and join in during a Zumba demonstration.  A bouncer and arts and  crafts will also be set up.

Residents are encouraged to wear their favorite sports jersey on Friday, Aug. 2, to get into the spirit of the theme, “Glow in the Dark Sports Night.” There will be neon giveaways and an outdoor screening of the film, “AirBud” will be shown.  To give you an opportunity to exercise, there will be a 3-Point Contest and Soccer Shootout and DJ.  Kids can make Sports Pennants at the arts and crafts tables.

It will be a “Summer Night Splash” on Friday, Aug. 9, with water games and slides.  The film, “Finding Nemo” will be shown and the city will host a JAM session to teach Hula dancing.  Arts and crafts tables will be set up.

The theme is “Classic Memories Car Show,” on  Sunday, August 18th which will be celebrated with swing dancing and a concert and entertainment provided by the Street Corner Renaissance and the Big Butter Jazz Band. A bouncer and arts and crafts table will be available for the kids.

The City of San Fernando Celebrates it’s 108th Birthday on Sunday, August 25th with a birthday party. The city celebrates with it’s own homegrown talent.  Members of  Ballet Folklorico Ollin will provide dance lessons and entertainment while San Fernando’s student musicians Mariachi Tesoro will provide a concert.  There will also be a bouncer and arts and crafts.
