The Los Angeles Raids Rapid Response Network (LARRRN) on Monday, July 1, held their first of what they say will be several actions to denounce the deaths of immigrants at the hands of the Department of Homeland Security (DHS).

They called their protest “Homeland Security Kills.” Clergy attended the rally outside of the historic Our Lady Queen of Angels church across the street from downtown Olvera Street where they held a short prayer service and re-enacted the brutality that migrants face.  They carried a coffin to L.A.’s downtown detention center.

“We will not sit idly by while U.S. immigration officials dispose of migrants as if they were so much trash,” said Shannon Camacho, LARRRN coordinator.

“Instead of the humanitarian treatment they deserve as asylum seekers, we see the Trump administration putting traumatized human beings in decrepit prisons and filthy detention camps.”

LARRRN, a network of non profit organizations, private citizens and  religious groups maintains that Congress continues to give billions of dollars to DHS without needed oversight which is causing migrants to lose their  lives.

The organizations  next two protests are: Not In Our Names will be held on Friday, August 1, 2019 and Not One More Dollar on Monday, September 2, 2019.
