San Fernando takes on another Southern Section team this week when its hosts Canyon High of Country Canyon tonight, Aug. 29.
The Tigers (1-0) opened their 2019 season in impressive fashion, defeating Leuzinger High of Lawndale last week, 22-14. Senior running back Bradley Pierce rushed for 145 yards and a touchdown for San Fernando, which rolled up 235 yards on the ground and 394 total yards.
New head coach Joe Maiale is trying to revive a program that was 2-8 last season, but Canyon (0-1) dropped its season opener last week to Crespi, 37-3. It was the Cowboys’ sixth straight loss, dating back to their game against Valencia last Sept. 28.
