VAN NUYS (CNS) — A crossing guard who was hit by a vehicle in the Valley Glen area near Van Nuys died at a hospital, authorities said.
Delia Huerta, 57, of Sun Valley was injured about 7:20 a.m. Monday, Sept. 16, in the 13400 block of West Vanowen Street and died about 10 hours afterward, according to the coroner’s office and the Los Angeles Police Department.
A teenage girl was also hit by the vehicle, and was treated for injuries described as non-life-threatening.
The motorist remained at the scene and was interviewed by officers.
According to published reports, LAPD Sgt. David Delgado said that the driver possibly “couldn’t see very clearly because … the sun was in his eyes.”
