San Fernando High has won the last three Valley Mission League titles. Expected to stand in the way of a fourth consecutive championship are Canoga Park High and Reseda High.
But first, the Hunters and Regents will play each other on Friday, Sept. 20.
Canoga Park (4-0) has surprised some with its unbeaten start, the latest victory coming against Verdugo Hills High last week. The Hunters have averaged 45.5 points a game in their four wins, three of which have come at home.
Reseda (2-2), which was beaten by Palisades High of Pacific Palisades last week, has faced an arguably tougher nonleague schedule. The Regents’ only league loss last year was to San Fernando, and they would love to be the team that dethrones the Tigers. But they must go through the Hunters first.
