Instead of his sleigh and reindeer, Santa Claus headed a convoy of 20 US Postal Service (USPS) trucks to deliver more than 2,000 toys for area foster care children on Wednesday, Dec. 11. They were delivered to the Van Nuys office of the LA County Department of Children and Family Services (DCFS), a tradition that began in 1996. All toys were purchased by USPS postal workers from offices in the San Fernando and San Gabriel valleys, Santa Clarita, and Ventura County. The trucks were unloaded by DCFS social workers, who also provided lunch for the postal workers.
