The San Fernando City Council has established new regulations regarding the parking of vehicles and uses of City-owned and City-operated off-street parking facilities.

Resolution No. 7970, adopted at the Council’s Jan. 6 meeting a 3-1 vote (Vice Mayor Sylvia Ballin was absent), means no parking will be allowed in City lots from 2 a.m. to 5 a.m. daily,  to aid in the cleaning up of parking lots and to improve public safety. Vehicles left in the lots during those hours can be ticketed and towed.

It will take approximately 60 days before enforcement will begin.

Council members instructed the city staff to work with businesses to develop policies that could create exemptions to the regulation during that time period.

The council also reviewed and unanimously approved a draft letter in support of the Fernandeño Tataviam Band of Mission Indians’ application for Federal Acknowledgement.
