In the Aug. 20 article “Porter Ranch Group Suspects State and County Agencies of “Destroying Evidence” at Aliso Canyon,” it was stated that LA Health Department officials were directed by the California Public Utilities Commission’s (CPUC) directive to the department to dispose of soil and other materials collected during the crisis. The CPUC released the legal hold on the hazardous material being stored by SoCal gas.

The story also incorrectly stated that the Scientific Oversight Committee (SOC) was “angered” in learning that the health department has allegedly hired a lab to do testing without its input. The actual angered committee was the CAG (Community Advisory Group).
