According to the website LAVote.net, there is still time to register online and receive a ballot by mail. Registration must be submitted no later than Oct. 19.
If you’re registering to vote for the first time you must provide a valid California driver’s license or state ID card identification number. If you don’t have these forms of ID, you can provide the last four digits of your Social Security number. New voters voting in a federal election may have to show a form of ID or proof of residency the first time they vote, if a driver’s license or social security number was not provided when registering.
Eligible, non-registered voters can go to any vote center in Los Angeles county and both register to vote and cast a ballot via Conditional Voter Registration, even on Election Day. Once your registration has been verified, your ballot is then counted during the Official Canvass Period. A post card will be mailed 30 days after the election to voters who cast a Provisional Ballot letting them know whether their ballot was counted.
If you want or need a ballot in a language other than American English, call the Los Angeles County Registrar’s Multilingual Services Section at (800) 815-2666, option 3, to request election materials in another language. Besides Spanish, ballots are available in Armenian, Chinese, Cambodian/Khmer, Farsi, Korean, Tagalog/Filipino, Vietnamese, Hindi, Japanese, Thai and Russian.

Maps of the drop-off ballot boxes and vote centers in Los Angeles County that will be available for the general election are now accessible online, and the Los Angeles Registrar-Recorder/County Clerk’s office is encouraging residents to make a plan to vote early.
