GLENDALE (CNS) – A 27-year-old Tujunga man was arrested in connection with possessing multiple unemployment benefit cards, identity theft, drug and firearm offenses, authorities said.
The arrest stems from a vehicle stop for speeding at 2:30 a.m. Friday, according to the Glendale Police Department.
While speaking Razmik Grigoryan, officers said they spotted multiple Employment Development Department debit cards and a bag with thousands of dollars in cash sitting wide open in the vehicle.
Prepaid gift cards, unemployment paperwork and compromising identity profiles — including names, birth dates and Social Security numbers — were clearly visible in the front seat, according to Glendale police.
“Officers searched the vehicle and located approximately 39 State of California EDD debit cards,” said Sgt. Christian Hauptmann, adding that some even had 4-digit pin numbers written on them.
Hauptmann said officers also found “over $15,000 in cash, a loaded stolen semi-automatic handgun, several bags containing EDD mail inside of them in different people’s names, numerous receipts for department stores each exceeding cash purchases of over $10,000, a bag containing approximately 18 keys for post office boxes with different addresses on them, a military-grade electronic jamming device, methamphetamine and a methamphetamine pipe.”
Grigoryan was booked into the Glendale Police Station just after 5:30 a.m. Friday morning.
He is being held on $175,000 bail at the Inmate Reception Center in Los Angeles after authorities successfully sought a bail deviation, as he was already out on bail for two other arrests related to identity theft.
Grigoryan is scheduled to appear in court today at 8:30 a.m. at the Glendale Municipal Court building at 600 East Broadway.
