Village Christian High (4-0) has already doubled its win total from its last full fall season in 2019, and is looking like a contender for the 2021 Olympic League title.
The Crusaders hope to continue solidifying their status when they face Maranatha High of Pasadena on Friday, Oct. 1.
The Minutemen (1-3) have lost three straight since their season-opening victory against Beverly Hills High back on Aug. 27. Freshman running back Miles O’Malley has been their most consistent offensive performer, with 490 yards rushing five touchdowns in 44 carries.
Village Christian, on the other hand, is not having many problems with its offense that’s averaging 30 points per game. Sophomore quarterback Nate Bennett has been very efficient, throwing for 1,115 yards and 17 touchdowns with only two interceptions in 63 pass attempts.
The kickoff is scheduled for 7 p.m. at Maranatha High School.
