The City of San Fernando has received confirmation that the Target Corporation has executed a lease with the owner of 12920 Foothill Boulevard in San Fernando to open a store there, City Manager Nick Kimball said in a released statement.
The retail chain plans to develop the 103,000 square foot site, formerly occupied by Sam’s Club, into a Target store over the next few years.
The property has been vacant since Sam’s Club closed its doors in January 2018.
“The site has been underutilized since Sam’s Club [closed],” Kimball said. “The City is looking forward to working with the new property owner and Target to re-energize that shopping center with one of the nation’s top retail stores.”
“We are excited to have Target as part of the City of San Fernando,” Mayor Mary Mendoza said. “The opening of this store will ensure San Fernando residents have a place to shop locally and will help support economic development in the City.”
Kimball said City officials will be working with the property owner and Target’s Development Team in the coming months to secure the proper permits and site improvement approvals.

That is great to have a new Target opening in San Fernando we need more big stores like that in our neighborhood will bring jobs to our community I was born and raised in San Fernando I remember when San Fernando Mall had different stores in the mall now we have a lot of bridal shops we need to put different kinds of stores in there used to be a movie theater and it went away.
They took OUT Kmart, why a TARGET STORE. They should bring back Kmart and forget Target. They have ugly clothes for large ladies and hardly anything for younger boys
Good to hear about the target store opening.
