WEST HILLS (CNS) – A second suspect was behind bars Monday, April 3, in connection with a weekend shooting at the Fallbrook Shopping Center in West Hills that left one person dead and three others injured.

Amy Waters, 33, is suspected of helping the shooting suspect flee the scene by picking him up and then leading police on a short pursuit that ended near Saticoy Street and Canoga Avenue, according to the Los Angeles Police Department.

The shooting was reported at about 3:45 p.m. Saturday in the shopping center’s parking lot in the 22900 block of Vanowen Street, according to the LAPD.

Police over the weekend identified the shooting suspect as 34-year-old Mark Connole, who was booked on suspicion of murder at the LAPD’s Topanga-area station and was being held on $2 million bail.

“One of the victims met with the suspect for unknown reasons. An argument ensued between the suspect and the victims when the suspect produced a handgun and began to fire at them,” police said.

One person died at the scene and three people were hospitalized with non-life-threatening injuries, police said.

According to police, Connole crashed his vehicle and fled from the shooting scene, but Waters drove to the area in a red Honda and picked up the suspect. Waters then led police on a pursuit, but she eventually pulled over and was taken into custody along with Connole, according to the LAPD.

Police said a firearm was recovered.

Waters was booked on suspicion of felony evading, police said. She was being held in lieu of $75,000 bail, according to jail records.

The name of the victim killed in the shooting was being withheld pending notification of relatives.

Authorities asked anyone who was at the shopping center Saturday and witnessed the shooting to come forward, including anyone who captured cell phone video of the altercation that preceded the shooting.

Anyone with pertinent information was asked to contact LAPD Valley Bureau homicide detectives at 818-374-9550, or 213-972-2971. Those wishing to remain anonymous may contact Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477 or www.lacrimestoppers.org.
