CHATSWORTH (CNS) – A motorist was found dead today in a vehicle that crashed over the side of an embankment in the Chatsworth area.
Firefighters were sent to the 22400 block of West Santa Susana Pass Road at about 10:30 a.m., according to Nicholas Prange of the Los Angeles Fire Department.
“Firefighters found a vehicle over the side of Santa Susana Pass Road, with one occupant, driver, deceased,” Prange said in a statement. “One canine was located in or near the vehicle (and) appears to be in good condition.”
Information was not immediately available on the identity of the person who died. Animal services personnel were sent to take care of the dog, Prange said.
“Firefighters are conducting a wider search of the area, but so far no additional patients have been located,” Prange said late Monday morning.
The circumstances of the death were under investigation by the Los Angeles Police Department. Crews on the scene indicated the vehicle may have crashed several days ago. Santa Susana Pass Road was closed in both directions in the area while the investigation was conducted.
