PACOIMA (CNS) – A suspect led police on a pursuit Tuesday, Aug. 1, that ended on train tracks in the Pacoima area, where the car and Metrolink train collided, disrupting train service in the area.
Los Angeles Fire Department crews responded around 5:25 p.m. to the train tracks near the intersection of San Fernando Road and Van Nuys Boulevard, according to spokesman Nicholas Prange. One person aboard the train was assessed by paramedics at the scene, but nobody was hospitalized, Prange said.
According to the Los Angeles Police Department, the San Fernando Police Department requested additional resources while pursuing a suspect in a stolen vehicle. The suspect bailed out of the vehicle before it collided with the northbound Metrolink train, and was taken into custody.
No further immediate information was available.
The Metrolink train on the Antelope Valley line was heading toward Lancaster. The tracks were closed between Sylmar and Sun Valley while the crash was being investigated.
